A Bangles was one of a freshly generation of independent all-women bands that followed The Go-Go's in the early 1980s. A band was formed within Los Angeles in 1981 as The Supersonic Bangs, late shortened to The Bangs. It were forced to vary their title to A Bangles after the band from either Just released Jersey, as well known as The Bangs, threatened to sue.
A original lineup was Susanna Hoffs (guitar, vocals), Debbi Peterson (drums, vocals, bass), and Vicki Peterson (guitar, vocals, bass); this lineup made of these 45, "Getting out of Hand" b/w "Call on Me". Annette Zilinskas took over bass duties within 1982 & as well played mouth harp. This lineup put out an extended play disc titled The Bangles that same month. Zilinskas left within 1983 & was replaced using Michael Steele, formerly of The Runaways.
A Bangles' debut album in Columbia, All Over The Place (1984) captured their power-pop roots, and attracted a attention of Prince, who wrote "Manic Monday", a United states #2 hit, for the class action. A concomitant album Different Light (1986) was more polished than its predecessor &, by owning a support of the worldwide #1 hit "Walk like an Egyptian", saw the b& firmly in the mainstream when FM radio and MTV stalwarts. It before long got an additional #2 hit by owning the handle of Simon and Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade Of Winter", from a soundtrack of the film Less Than Zero.
1988's Everything was another multi-platinum smash, & involved their large marketing lone in the easy ballad "Eternal Flame", but working relationships in the b& got broken down & it split shortly fallowing, by having Hoffs commence a solo career and Vicki Peterson itinerant as a member of The Go-Go's and the Continental Drifters.
Around 2000 they reformed to tour, and around 2001-2002 recorded a recently album, Doll Revolution. The cover version of "Eternal Flame" was a 2001 UK #1 for Atomic Kitten. Doll Revolution, featuring such songs when "Stealing Rosemary", "Ride the Ride", "Nickel Romeo", & a only "Something That You Said", was freed inside early 2003. A title track was written by Elvis Costello. A Japanese version of the album features when bonus tracks each sides of their debut only.
Inside Will 2005, a Bangles announced the departure of Michael Steele, & come out to exist as "Bangling" in by having there is no quick plans to replenish her.
A class action was inducted into a Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2000.
